The Adapted School in Ulricehamn Municipality, which is part of the Tingsholm school area, offers students with intellectual disabilities an education that is carefully tailored to each student's individual conditions - from primary school to high school and adult levels. The operation is based on the same structure as primary school while also encompassing special subject areas that promote students' motor skills, communication, daily activities, aesthetic development, and understanding of reality. Here, each student has the opportunity to develop in a safe learning environment where participation, learning, and belief in the future are at the center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your mission is to plan, lead, and develop teaching for students based on the adapted school's subjects and subject areas, focusing on each student's individual abilities, needs, and goals. You create good conditions for learning by using adapted working methods and an inclusive pedagogy that aligns with the curriculum's intentions for harmonious development, participation, and exploratory learning.

Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that students receive the educational and social support they need to develop and achieve their goals. Your duties may also include tasks that would otherwise fall to teaching assistants, to support students in everyday and social situations where needed. You also contribute to the overall pedagogical development work and collaborate closely with lead teachers, the principal, and other educators to enhance the quality of teaching and create a cohesive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a licensed special teacher and has experience working in preschool, school, or adapted school. It is an advantage if you are a trained special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities and if you have knowledge of sign language and alternative communication (AAC). Good competence in using digital aids is also seen as a valuable asset. Additionally, it is beneficial if you have experience working with students with neuropsychiatric disabilities, especially autism, as well as students with visual and hearing impairments.

In your professional role, you work in a structured manner and have a flexible attitude towards changing needs and situations. You have good collaborative skills and are skilled at building trusting relationships with both students and colleagues. To thrive in the role, you need to be secure and stable, even in situations that can be pressurized or challenging. You meet students and the environment with calmness, clarity, and empathy and have a solution-focused approach that contributes to a positive work environment.
